HCG And Sustainability
Sustainability, according to the Unites States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is based on the principle that “Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment.”
Due to this world’s aim to be technologically advanced and industrialized, our environment had been neglected and its natural resources consumed only to realize individual and self-centered gains.
Fortunately, we began to realize what we are losing. Thus ‘sustainability’ or creating a world that will be able to sustain itself given what it consumes has been the thrust across the globe.
As a global company, we too realize the carbon footprint that we are leaving. Thus we came up with HCG’s Green Philosophy where efforts to reduce production waste in the plant had been implemented; idle lands in our Cavite plant were made more productive by planting greens and products that reduce at least 20% water were launched and sold.
As a market leader too, we also realize that with the trust given to us, our responsibility becomes bigger. That’s we support seminars that aim to propagate this cause.
Recently, HCG supported United Architects of the Philippines’s (UAP) Continuing Professional Education Seminar on Sustainable Toilets. In the span of a more than a month, QA Manager Jun Batoon and CST Supervisor Jun Manarpiis went from Luzon to Mindanao to lecture about Sustainable Toilets.
The effects of our efforts might not be seen at once but we hope that through this, we were able to play our part for the environment.
