HCG Participates In Rice Relief Operations In Cavite
The onslaught of the torrential August monsoon may have drowned many houses and caused the livelihood of those in the Metro and the neighboring towns, but not the burning Bayanihan spirit of the people. Hocheng Philippines Corporation (HPC), the leading manufacturer of bathroom fixtures in the country, played an active part in this spirit of oneness on August 11, 2012, Saturday. Hundreds of flood victims trooped over Bulihan Elementary School in General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), Cavite, as HPC, represented by its VP for Sales & Marketing Mr. Bruce Chien, together with representatives of Taiwanese Chamber of the South Philippines and volunteers from Tzu Chi Foundation, donated rice reliefs to the community. Each household received 20 kilograms (kg) of rice, which were labeled “Love from Taiwan”. Tzu Chi volunteers also helped women carry their load from the school to their homes. That day alone, two trucks or 10 tons of rice sacks were distributed. The rice relief operations continued until August 25 helping out thousands of families in total. Aside from donating rice in Cavite, in certain parts of Metro Manila such as Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig and Manila, Tzu Chi Foundation also served the victims with hot meals, breads, biscuits and water. Tzu Chi Foundation has been doing this for 10 years now. It is a non-profit spiritual and welfare organization founded by Dharma Master Chen Yen in Taiwan. Since its foundation, it has been a pivotal force in the betterment of the communities in Taiwan. It is an honor for HPC to show its touch of love by participating in this endeavor.
